The SAXONIA MONDPHASE, which was presented at the SIHH in January, is coming into the market these days. It combines a high-precision lunar phase display with the marked long-length date. A photo exhibition in front of a Saxon backdrop in the moonlight impressively impressed the perfect combination of precision and aesthetics. The staging is the start of an international online event.
Photography plays a dual role in this context: through natural reproduction or artistic interpretation it can enlighten or enchant. In 1865 the pioneer of the astrophotography Lewis Morris Rutherfurd created the first detailed picture of the moon in his observatory in Manhattan. About 40 years later the legendary Edward Steichen set a milestone of artistic lunar photography with the image "The Pond - Moonlight" auctioned in 2006 for 2.9 million US dollars. It could also be the title of the photo showing the SAXONIA MONDPHASE in front of the famous Rakotz bridge in the Rhododendronpark Kromlau in Saxony. In the silver light of the full moon, the bridge and its reflection on the surface of the water melt into a
perfect circle. The picture is the start of a global online project in which 12 watch bloggers and web journalists photographed the clock in twelve cities. The connecting element is to be a bridge in the full moon. After the first full moon shooting in Saxony, the other stations will be Copenhagen, London, Tokyo, Paris, Sydney, New York, Oslo, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai and Warsaw.
